A genuine Andon-zara (oil plate), a beautiful example of Japanese Mingei (folk art) from the late Edo Period.
Originally used to catch dripping oil beneath traditional paper lanterns (Andon), these plates have become highly collectible for their rustic charm and "speed-painted" artistic style.
This specific piece features a classic, hand-painted landscape in underglaze iron (black/dark brown) on a cream-colored feldspathic glaze.
The scene depicts a tranquil hut nestled among stylized pines and rolling hills, rendered with the confident, rapid brushwork typical of Seto potters of the era.
