A stunning, original Japanese Karatsu-yaki (Karatsu ware) studio pottery plate, in the E-Karatsu (painted) style.
It features a rustic, atmospheric landscape design that perfectly captures the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi—finding beauty in natural imperfection.
- Motif: The plate is decorated with several stylized white pine trees (matsu), a traditional Japanese symbol of longevity and resilience.
- Technique: The trees are applied using a slip trailing or Hakamé (brush-stroked slip) technique, creating a subtle, raised texture against the background.
- Background: Sweeping brushstrokes in earthy gray and charcoal tones suggest a misty mountain landscape or a distant horizon, a classic element of Sumi-e (ink wash) inspired ceramics.
- Type: High-fired Japanese stoneware.
- Texture: The plate has a characteristic "earthy" feel with a visible clay grain, a hallmark of traditional Karatsu pottery.
- Shape: A shallow, circular form with a slightly raised rim, making it suitable for both a striking display piece or a unique serving platter
Diameter: 31cm. Height: 4,5cm. Weight: 1613,5 gr.
