This 19th-century Wedgwood Black Basalt wine ewer exemplifies Neoclassical elegance, modelled by John Flaxman Senior in England.

The oviform vessel features a seated Satyr before a pierced, entwined handle, grasping a stylized sea monster mask beneath a wave-moulded neck. Detailed reliefs of botanical festoons and grapevines embellish the body, emphasizing its association with wine. The lower section is gadrooned, resting on a square base adorned with anthemion palmettes.

Made from fine-grained, unglazed black basalt stoneware, this piece measures 39 cm in height with an 11 cm square base, and remains in good antique condition.
