From the Iconic "Ze Šumavy" Cycle

Own a monumental piece of Czech art history. This original, hand-signed graphic by František Kobliha (1877–1962) captures the primeval mystery of Europe’s most famous virgin forest.

This impressive large-format piece belongs to one of Kobliha’s most celebrated series, "Ze Šumavy" (From the Bohemian Forest). Specifically, it depicts Boubín, home to a 400-year-old primeval forest that has remained largely untouched by humans for centuries.
Kobliha, a master of Czech Symbolism, moves beyond simple landscape to capture the "spirit" of the woods. Through incredibly intricate and dense linework, he renders the tangled, ancient bark and the solemn silence of the deep forest. It is a hauntingly beautiful tribute to a landscape that was a major inspiration for generations of Czech artists.
František Kobliha was a leading figure in the influential Sursum group and is considered one of the most important European graphic artists of the 20th century. His works are held in the permanent collections of the National Gallery in Prague and the Albertina in Vienna.
