Charlotte Schrotter - Radnitz (Lotte Frumi 1899 - 1986), An Avant-Garde Linear Female Nude Study, Czechoslovakia, 1926

An exceptional interwar modernist study of a standing female nude, executed in 1926. This artwork is a stellar example of Czech avant-garde draftsmanship, shifting away from academic realism toward a minimalist, expressive linear style heavily influenced by the neoclassical and structural trends of the 1920s.

The drawing is masterfully rendered in ink, using a swift, confident contour line to define the anatomy, balance, and volume of the figure. The artist employs a high degree of modern stylization, particularly visible in the simplified, expressive features of the face. The lower right section features the artist's authentic monogram "RS" and the date "26" (1926).

In 1926, the Czech art scene was experiencing a peak in modernist experimentation, led by avant-garde circles such as Devětsil. Minimalist, fluid ink nudes from this specific year are highly collectible. They perfectly capture the progressive spirit of interwar Central European modern art and possess a timeless, elegant decorative appeal.

Charlotte Schrötter-Radnitz (Lotte Frumi) was a prominent avant-garde Czech-Italian painter whose rare, surviving works are highly sought after due to the tragic loss of much of her estate during WWII and the Venice floods. 

As a founding member of the influential Prager Secession and the sister of Nobel Prize laureate Gerty Cori, she was a key figure in the interwar European art scene, exhibiting at the prestigious Venice Biennale (1926, 1948) and the landmark 1937 Les femmes artistes d'Europe exhibition in Paris. 

Deeply influenced by Oskar Kokoschka and the Italian Valori Plastici movement, her distinctive style blends Central European expressionism with Mediterranean classicism. 
Today, her works are proudly preserved in elite institutions, including the National Gallery Prague and the Jewish Museum in Prague.

Good vintage condition corresponding to its age. The paper features a natural light cream patina with only very faint, negligible aging, preserving the integrity of the artwork. Unframed.
