We are presenting his Japanese ceramic, an Oribe ware (Oribe-yaki) flower vase, a style of Japanese pottery characterized by its distinctive deep emerald green glaze.
The vase is covered in a rich, translucent green glaze known as ao-Oribe (green Oribe). This glaze typically pools in recessed areas, creating varying depths of color that can appear almost black or vivid emerald depending on the light.
The body has a structured, somewhat angular or faceted shape with prominent vertical ridges. Carved or impressed linear patterns run diagonally across the surface, adding a rhythmic, geometric texture that is characteristic of the Oribe style's bold and creative aesthetic.
It is presented with its original Tomobako (signed wooden box). The calligraphy on the box identifies the contents as a "Flower Vase" (花入, Hanairi) and confirms its "Oribe" (織部) style.
Vases of this type are often used in Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) or for display in a tokonoma (alcove), where the deep green provides a natural, earthy contrast to floral displays.
Height: 20 cm. Width: 11cm. Weight: 574,4 gr.
