Artist: Toyohara Kunichika (1835–1900)

Type: Original Ukiyo-e Woodblock Print Triptych (Complete 3-Panel Set)

Date: Meiji Era (c. 1880s)

Format: Oban Tate-e (Vertical Oban).

A striking and dynamic theatrical triptych by the legendary Toyohara Kunichika, known as the "Last Master of the Ukiyo-e." This set features three of the period's most famous Kabuki actors in a dramatic confrontation. Kunichika’s signature and the Toshidama seal are clearly visible on the left and central panels, certifying its authenticity.

Theatrical Composition: The central actor is captured in a powerful mie pose, characterized by cross-eyed intensity and dramatic tension.

Vibrant Meiji Colors: This print utilizes the famous aniline dyes imported during the Meiji Restoration. These "Meiji reds" and deep purples are highly saturated and resist fading better than earlier vegetable dyes.

Scenic Detail: The background showcases the fine line work of cherry blossoms and traditional architecture, adding deep cultural context to the stage performance.

Color: Vibrant; well-preserved "Meiji red" and purple pigments.

Dimensions:   72cm x 37cm in total (2 sheets).
