This elegant 19th-century portrait captures the refined dignity of Juana de Díaz y de Collar. 

Attributed to the Spanish School, the work is a classic example of bourgeois portraiture from the mid-1800s, focusing on the status and character of the subject through intricate detail.

The sitter is depicted in a half-length pose against a muted, dark background with a deep red curtain. She wears a striking black dress topped with a wide, delicate white lace collar.

Her attire is completed by a traditional lace bonnet tied with vibrant yellow silk ribbons. In her right hand, she holds a pair of spectacles, a common symbol of literacy and sophistication in the era. A fine gold chain with a watch or pendant is draped across her chest.
